Richmond favorite, former professional football player and

causing him to suffer a severe spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed. The
local community came out in droves to show their love and support at the 1st
Annual Give Love to Buzz event, held last summer (July 16, 2006). Buzz’
unbelievable story and journey was captured on the front page of the Richmond
Times’ sports section and the event promoted on Lite 98 with a live on air
interview between Bill Bevins and musician, Steve Bassett. Because of the great
media, over 500 people attended the event last year.
If you were there last year, you know what a great time it
was and this year will be no different.
The event has become an annual “reunion” of sorts drawing one of the
biggest cross sections of
The event is drawing near and we are really getting
psyched!!! Tickets will be sold at the door for $20 with the goal
being to not only “raise the roof” but to continue raising awareness for Spinal
Cord Injury. Thanks to your unbelievable support at last summer's 1st
Annual event, Buzz has been able to "survive and thrive" this past
year and he can't wait to show you his progress!
Entertainment this year will include a special reunion performance by The
Joker's Wild (Buzz' highschool band) which is sure to astound. The group
will feature an unbelievable horn section made up of Buzz, Ted Varnier, Roger
Carol and Paul Thomasson on saxophones as well as Peyton Johnson and Howard
Awad on Trumpets; Randy Moss on guitar, Herbie Atkinson on bass, Walter Sheely
on keys, Bruce Olsen on drums, and Gayle McGee on vocals. The Jokers are set to
play the last hour of the event from 5-6pm, and Buzz wants to make sure that
everyone is prepared to "Drop their pants and Dance" per the old
days... so don't miss it!
DJ Jeffrey "Smitty" Smith, alongside Buzz, will be spinning
everyone's favorite tunes during the entire day. And if you think you
have what it takes to get everybody on the dance floor, we invite you to bring
your own CD and see if you can make it happen. There will be a contest for
"Who Gets the Crowd Groovin the Most."
The Diamond Dolls will also be making an appearance. This young, beautiful
dance troupe will perform a number for the crowd that you won't forget!
Big Daddy will be there offering his brand of bodacious barbecues and
there will be cold beverages and Mojitos a plenty!
We need people to work the door from 1-3:30 and 3:30-6 (2 each, per shift) so
if you are ready and willing please email us and let us know! shannon@givelovetobuzz.com
